Founded in 1965, Countryside Farms was
organized to promote home fragrance, organic foods and farming.
Today the company is a specialty distributor of home fragrance,
flavorful herbs, spices and seasonings, provided through growers and
agricultural cooperatives. Countryside Farms markets handicrafts
and scented merchandise as a social enterprise corporation organized to
donate all net profits from product sales, after taxes, for charitable
and educational purposes. Social enterprises are not charities,
but are businesses promoting primarily social objectives.
Economic surpluses are reinvested into the business and the community
rather than being driven by the need to maximize profit for owners and
shareholders. Social
